Frequently Asked Questions about Belt Up Baby
No we’re afraid you can’t, it is a legal requirement for your child to be in a regulated child restraint system in a private car.
Even though Belt Up Baby was designed with taxis in mind there is no reason why it should not be used in other forms of public transport where your child would otherwise travel on your lap unrestrained. Of course, if a car seat is available and practical, or is required by law for the vehicle in question, Belt Up Baby should not be used.
It has been designed to be used for children who would fit the Stage 1 type car seat. This is approximately from 9 months to about 3 years. However, we suggest that the top of the child’s head should be below the adult’s nose when seated.
Belt Up Baby has been crash tested at TRL, the UK transport research laboratory. It has been proven to reduce the risk of injury to the infant when compared with an unrestrained infant and save lives.
Very easy indeed. You simply attach it to yourself using the two wrap-around straps, fasten the adult seatbelt around yourself and the Belt Up Baby and then fasten your infant into the standard five point harness just like you would with any Stage 1 car seat. It comes complete with comprehensive online instructions and step by step diagrams, there is also a video guide on how to fit it on our website.
